Magpie ART COLLECTIVE
Magpie was established as a Studio in 1998 by Cape Craft Icon Scott B. Hart and Social Entrepreneur Shane A. Petzer (Ashoka Fellow). In 2003 Magpie relocated from Cape Town to Barrydale. In 2006 Fine Artist Sean Daniel and Administrator Richard Panaino joined to expand the Studio into the Magpie Art Collective.
We believe the work we do links art, design and craft with meaningful commercial and social entrepreneurism, integrated with environmental concern.
Our whimsical, charming and bespoke creations are produced from a broad range of medium and often incorporate re-purposed, found, memorabilia or recycled elements.
We undertake commissions and participate in a variety of exhibitions and events.
DO NOT MISS: Magpie is celebrating 21 years of being a studio! There will be a huge Exhibition at their studio in Barrydale on 7 September 2019!
Note: Barack Obama is a proud owner of two Magpie Chandeliers.
