A beautiful pioneering wine estate in the middle of nowhere, at the end of a dusty road at the Southern tip of Africa. This unique vineyard is situated on the Malgas and Infanta side of the Breede River, 15km from Infanta.
Their tasting room is open on Saturdays from where you will have a hard-to-believe beautiful view of the Breede River. They offer an excellent platter to enjoy with the wine. All platter ingredients are sourced locally and they provide a list of where they are from.
You can reach Sijnn wine estate in two ways. The one I prefer starts at Buffeljags Oude Post Bistro and crosses the Pont at Malgas. This it the last hand-pulled Pont in South Africa and is great fun. The other way is starting at Swellendam, this route does not cross the Pont. Or you could do the 100km circle route starting at either end and having the halfway stop at Sijnn wine estate. These are also great routes to ride with your mountain bike to meet up with the rest of the family. The Breede River Trading Post Farmstall is also a worthwhile stop.
HOW DO I GET THERE:
PONT COST (about):
Car or Bakkie: R60
Mountain Bike: R15 (unofficially)
The Pont is usually open from sunrise to sunset.
