Stormsvlei is a town on the southern bank of the Riviersonderend river, just south of Bonnievale and 50 km north of Bredasdorp. Of Afrikaans origin, the name means 'storm marsh'.

From Stormsvlei you can reach the Robertson Wine Valley via the Stormsvlei Poort. It is one of those delightful passes that few people know about, yet it is close to the main routes and has a long history. The poort offers lovely scenery as it descends down from the Bonnievale area to the tiny hamlet of Stormsvlei.
